About

I’m Sarai Jimenez Mendez, and Mornings and Mascara is where I write, carefully and a little obsessively, about makeup.

I’m not a celebrity artist and I’m not selling a transformation. I’m the kind of person who reads the ingredient list on a mascara, keeps notes on how a lipstick wears from nine to five, and wants to know why a formula behaves the way it does before I tell anyone to buy it. Beauty writing is full of breathless praise. I’d rather explain the mechanics: pigment load, undertone, the angle you hold a brush, the emollients that make a balm slip.

The name is honest about the register. Most of my makeup happens in real mornings, half-awake, in ordinary light, and mascara is usually the one step I refuse to skip. So the blog runs from that everyday reality outward, to eyes and lips and skin prep, to colour theory and occasion looks and the occasional close read of a product I’ve lived with for months.

Everything here is written by a real person who tests slowly and says when something is overrated. If a piece is precise and useful, it’s doing its job.
